The Glasshouse

Jannah L. Argote

I am here,

Fragile and brittle,

Bright and light,

So little,

Yet everything is inside me.

You built me for peace,

I have what you like,

Nothing’s beyond your sight,

I’m a place you can confide.

Stay, be fine,

You can’t dig nor climb,

Why are you racing with time?

Ignore it, don’t whine.

You made me,

We are one,

I gave you comfort,

I am your life.

You can’t break me,

You’ll get caught in debris,

It will pierce into your soul,

You’ll lose the path you carved for so long.

Don’t go against the odds,

You’ll earn nothing,

I know it’s your fear,

Be good, return here.

You’ll run out of luck,

I know you’ll come back,

Don’t wake it up,

The things you buried alive

Don’t be mad if you step on a shard,

Don’t shed too much tears,

Go on, walk away,

You’ll be stepping with your fears

I can’t wait to say, ‘I told you so,’

Things that are dead,

Must remain unled,

My pieces will be here,

Behind you, watching you flee—
